Period 6 Summary of Rosenthal Section 2: Arab-Israelis feel alienated living in israel. "Palestinians" have struggled with their identity since the creation of the state of Israel. They have a love for their land, but not the overwhelming Jewish culture it comes with. The Palestinians feel as one people, but seperation makes it difficult. Suhad, a Palestinian explained that even at a young age she felt ostricized by the jewish community. Because Israel is a Jewish state, all the events are Jewish, which leaves Suhad out. Even the Arab shools can be Judaism oriented. Over time, people like Suhad have grown a resentment toward Jewish Israel. The palestinians feel it is their land, but they are being pushed out.

COMMENT BY GROUP 1: this is a lot like the pages we read, with the arab-israelis feeling disconnected from their fellow israelis. they feel that they are treated worse because they arent jewish, and they think it isnt fair, that all israelis should be treated the same. The difference between the readings is that here, the individual doesn't like the existence of the state of Israel. Israel is a religious, Jewish state so the majority of education being oriented towards Judaism is normal. They feel like outsiders in what they think is their land.

if the israeli government wants to be more inclusive to arabs in government and in society, the arabic population as a whole needs to calm the heck down. seriously dude if they didnt fire rocket constantly on sderot and slaughter innocents all the time, but cry and whine if the IDF goes into an arab school to remover weaposn. they dig their own grave and expect everyone else to give them what they wanted becasue they are the 'oppressed'. deal with it, weve been oppressed for 4000 years and they didnt do a thing to help us when they were opperssing us therefore, if they wnat to be treated equally, and wnat respect, they have to earn it.
